A two-day workshop brought together a group of 22 experts from academia, space agencies and industry at the University of Stuttgart to discuss the current state of research and identify actions needed to better understand the environmental impact of space transportation systems.
In two working groups, participants focused on the following topics.
- How can we assess the environmental impacts of space transportation systems?
- What knowledge gaps exist in assessing environmental impacts?
- What actions and tools are needed to fill these knowledge gaps in collaborative research projects?
The main conclusions of the two working groups have been incorporated into a white paper with possible measures, which can be accessed here.
