Meilenstein im Projekt DESTINY+ Dust Analyzer

February 1, 2023

It is done, the engineering model of the heart of the DESTINY+ Dust Analyzer (DDA) is integrated and is being tested at IRS/MPA dust accelerator. DDA is the main instrument of JAXA's interplanetary mission DESTINY+ and is being developed at IRS in cooperation with von Hörner & Sulger. The primary target of the mission is the asteroid 3200 Phaethon.

The core of the sensor is a time-of-flight mass spectrometer to determine the chemical composition of micrometeorites in space. Furthermore, mass, velocity and trajectory of the particles will be measured.

Stay tuned for further information and progress!
