Honorary Professor appointed

Dr.-Ing. Jens Eickhoff was appointed Honorary Professor of the University of Stuttgart at October 26th 2011. Professor Eickhoff from Astrium Satellites Friedrichshafen has been holding lectures at the University of Stuttgart for almost a decade now. At the moment he is publishing his second book on spacecraft technology. His area of research includes simulation technology, spacecraft on-board computers, system engineering and functional verification. The Institute of Space Systems is very glad about this appointment because Professor Eickhoff has been supporting the institute in a lot of issues concerning small satellite development for the last years. The on-board computer for the small satellite Flying Laptop has been designed by Professor Eickhoff. Several doctoral candidates are now working with this equipment. The good cooperation with Professor Eickhoff is an excellent example for associating industry with university. The Institute of Space Systems is looking forward to expanding the cooperation with this appointment.
