Welcome to our Website!
The Space Station Design Workshop (SSDW) is an environment for the multidisciplinary
conceptual design of space stations and other orbital infrastructure. It has
been developed at the Institute of
Space Systems (Institut für Raumfahrtsysteme, IRS) of the University of
Stuttgart.
In addition to using SSDW methodology and tools for research purposes, the SSDW
staff is offering short courses and workshops to introduce students and professionals
to conceptual design in a multinational, interactive, team-centered environment.
Check below for more information on the upcoming events or browse through the
history of past space mission designs on this website.
Ongoing development efforts are aimed at improving SSDW methodology and tools,
to meet the expectations of tomorrow's space systems designers. This includes
enhancement and expansion of the design environment for manned missions and
space infrastructure beyond low earth orbit, supporting the extension of the
frontier of human space exploration.
Unfortunately, the Institute of
Space Systems will not offer a Space Station Design Workshop in 2013 due to
internal restructuring of the department and the ongoing adjustment to the new
academic degree course.
Future workshops will be announced on this website in due time.
