At the aerothermodynamic research group of the IRS the URANUS Navier-Stokes flow-simulation algorithm was developed in recent years.

Within the scope of the Collaborative Research Centre 259 "High Temperature Problems of Re-Usable Space Transportation Systems" an axissymmetric release for chemical and thermal nonequilibrium is created, which enables an accurate prediction of the occuring loads at re-entry in a wide velocity and density regime.
